Translation, Interpreting, & Culture 2023: Translator Competences in the Era of AI (Slovakia)

The workshop will form an integral part of the international conference Translation, Interpreting and Culture 3: Virality and Isolation in the Era of Deepening Divides, organized in Bratislava on 20-22 September 2023, which builds on the success of its previous editions in Nitra (2018) and Banská Bystrica (2021). TEW will be held on the first day of the conference, 20 September 2023.

TIC 2023 is the third event in the series and it wishes to provide a platform for multi-disciplinary discussions about translation and interpreting in the rapidly changing global circumstances. The TEW in this edition of the conference will include two roundtable discussions. The first one will focus on the field of translator training, with an emphasis on specific skills required for PEMT and new forms of interaction between AI and human translator. The second roundtable will be dedicated to the provision of translation and accessibility services to Ukrainian citizens fleeing war, volunteer translations and accessibility work.

Interpretation will be provided in: Slovak and English.
