Voluntary Reviews of SDG implementation

The European Commission commits to regularly monitoring the SDGs in the EU based on its reference indicator framework. Indicators in the EU SDG indicator set have been chosen for their policy relevance for the EU and their statistical quality.

European Union’s Voluntary Review

The first Voluntary Review of  the European Union – a Union of 447 million citizens and 27 countries – on the implementation of  the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development shows that the EU is fully committed to delivering the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The EU has firmly placed sustainable development at its core and is making efforts to advance the 2030 Agenda, both at home and around the world, by supporting partner countries in their implementation effort.

Monitoring report on progress towards the SDGs in an EU context — 2023

Eurostat has published the ‘Sustainable development in the European Union — 2023 monitoring report on progress towards the SDGs in an EU context'. The report builds on the EU SDG indicator set, developed in cooperation with a large number of stakeholders, and provides a statistical presentation of trends relating to the SDGs in the EU over the past five years (short-term) and over the past 15 years (long-term). The 2023 edition also analyses the impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic during 2022 and the beginning of 2023 that are visible in Eurostat’s official statistics.
