Call for EMT membership 2024-2029

The call for EMT membership 2024-2029 is now closed.

The list of the new EMT Network members will be published in June 2024.

 

 

Eligibility

Universities can apply if, at the time of application, the programme has at least two cohorts of graduates of an officially recognised Master’s degree in translation which is authorised by:

Selection criteria

University programmes have to meet a number of criteria relevant for quality translator training according to the EMT standards:

  • structure of the programme – objectives, credits and expected learning outcomes of the courses given;
  • coverage of the key competences according to the new EMT Competence Framework;
  • sustainability – staffing policy and number of graduates over the past years; and
  • career support and monitoring – including career guidance for students, internships, tracking of careers after graduation and employment statistics.

Additional assets

  • cooperation with higher education institutions at an international level or participation in national networks
  • effective quality assurance system
  • research activities

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the online application form on EU survey.

This form contains a number of general questions on the programme. Specific details must be provided in an Excel spreadsheet which must be downloaded, filled in with the relevant information and uploaded back to the system.

Please read thoroughly the Guide for applicants before completing the Application form. It will guide you step by step through the application documents and it contains useful information on how to fill in the forms.

The assessment will be exclusively based on the information that you provide in the online application form and the Excel spreadsheet therein. If you cannot provide the information required for a given aspect, please state clearly the reasons why (for instance, because of legal conditions in your country).

Selection procedure

Eligible applications will be evaluated by academic experts assisted by representatives of the language industry who are members of the LIND expert group. The academic experts will be selected by the DGT from a list drawn up following an open Call for assessors – EMT selection procedure 2023.

The Director-General of DGT will decide on EMT membership based on the results of the academic assessment. The selection decision is final and non-appealable.

Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be informed of the outcome by a letter containing consolidated feedback from the assessors. The new list of EMT network members will be published on the EMT webpage in June 2024.
