Built at the end of the 60’s, the swimming pool of Bréquigny was one of the most energy-intensive buildings of the City of Rennes (200 kEUR were spent every year in electricity bills).
This EUR 2.5 million project consisted insulating the roofs, and installing a 2,400 m2 of solar panels on the roofs: the electricity produced is self-consumed and distributed to other sports facilities on the site of Bréquigny.
By reducing energy consumption by 25 to 30%, the financial gains will allow the municipality to amortise this investment in 7 to 10 years only.
The Recovery and Resilience Facility finances EUR 1.4 million of this investment.
