The Call provides funding for the mobility of experienced researchers. The new record confirms the increasing popularity of the MSCA Individual Fellowships (IF) programme, one of the most attractive, generous yet competitive postdoctoral funding schemes in the world.

This year's IF 2018 call, which closed on Tuesday, resulted in the submission of 9,830 proposals, representing an 8% increase compared to last year, making the IF the largest call by far managed by the REA. While the call is no stranger to breaking records – submission numbers have increased steadily every year under Horizon 2020. This year’s submissions confirm the increasing trend started in 2014, demonstrating the continued interest from the research community in this highly prestigious programme.

Some 3,000 experts are expected to assist REA in evaluating proposals submitted.

The IF Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions supports individual researchers at postdoctoral level and beyond. The scheme helps them carry out personal research projects in different countries and to acquire new skills. Ultimately, the IF funding allows researchers to achieve a higher level of independence in their research, helping them to form their own research groups, publish in top-level refereed journals, and thus securing further research grants.
