Citizens' Dialogue on Facebook with Vice-President Dubravka Šuica You can watch it here Saturday 9 May 2020, 10:30 - 12:00 (CEST)Online only SpeakersDubravka ŠuicaCommissioner Practical information WhenSaturday 9 May 2020, 10:30 - 12:00 (CEST)WhereOnline only Report On the occasion of Europe Day, Vice-President Šuica held and online dialogue on 9th May as part of the Europe City Project in Milan.Some of the questions received were critical regarding the role the EU has played during the current crisis and wanted to know if “Europe is over”.One participant wanted to know how Italy could help its citizens in the current ecomic crisis while Europe is challenging the country with its high public debt.The issue of fake news was also addressed, with one student asking whether a claim by Italian anti-EU politicians saying that Italy contributes more money to the EU than it receives was true.Other questions covered issues such as the future of the Erasmus project after the crisis and how the EU could support an increase the birth rate in Italy, which is currently low.The dialogue was locally organized by the Civetta Association, in co-operation with the European Commission Representation in Milan. The Civetta Association is a pro-Europe group of young professionals and researchers involved in free training in schools on civic education and Europe with innovative methods.In 2019 the Civetta Association launched the Europe City Project, a four-day, Milan-based widespread event to foster a new bottom-up, shared narrative on Europe. Due to the coronavirus pandemia, this year the Europe City Project went “digital” and be broadcast on the Facebook account of the Europe City Project, in partnership with newspapers and online magazines.
