The seminar was organized by Euractiv Slovakia, the Slovak Climate Initiative and the Slovak Gas and Oil Association.Mrs. Vašáková introduced the European Green Deal (EGD) as a new top EU priority and a new growth strategy that concerns not only energy and the environment, but also finance, taxes, public procurement, agriculture, transport, employment and inclusion and skills.She furthermore emphasized the social context of the transformation and described how the EGD will be funded through the EGD Investment Plan and the Just Transformation Mechanism.Mr. Karaba from the Slovak Climate Initiative invited all Slovak politicians to put more pressure on solving the climate crisis on the national level and to focus more on increasing the energy efficiency, increasing the share of RES, reducing the use of fossil fuels and setting a comprehensive solution for energy poverty.According to Mr. Kvašňovský from the Slovak Gas and Oil Association (SGOA), the greenhouse gas emissions reduction should become a priority together with the adoption of rational solutions reflecting the principle of value for money. SGOA emphasized the importance of quality and modern infrastructure, further decarbonisation of the gas industry, investments into technology related to the use of biogas, bio-methane, hydrogen or low carbon gas.
