Interactive micro-lessons in 40 languages in a very busy arcade in the centre of Prague. There will also be other language-related activities on the spot, including a "Spot the language" paper quiz. The online quiz will be available at www.denjazyku.eu for several weeks before the speak dating event, with the deadline on 26 September. EDL will be promoted through a radio competition on a major Czech radio station (Radio Impuls - www.impuls.cz) and a related spot promoting language learning and multilingualism. Campus Hybernská will also host a programme putting the translation profession in the spotlight. This will include a discussion with a well-known Czech translator of fiction, a live demonstration (also live streamed) of the use of CAT tools in literary translation, a workshop on subtitling led by an experienced subtitles translator, and a presentation by a dubbing translator. To enable people living elsewhere to participate in the main EDL event in Prague, we will run a public poll on the EDL website and on our partners' websites to select 4 languages. At the same time, we want to draw attention to the EU’s linguistic and cultural diversity. Our partners of the Instituto Cervantes, Goethe Institute and adult education service in Frankfurt will explain their course programmes and help us to show how important language learning is to intercultural understanding. On a dedicated Europe House page, the EU will be placed in the spotlight on 27 September. 2 live webinars will be held, one by the European Commission at 15:00 on the role of the Commission and the priorities of the Von der Leyen Commission, and the other by the European Parliament (guided tour and presentation). Visitors to the webpage can watch a short film on the work of the Commission Representation in the Netherlands, shot especially for this occasion, and there will also be live chats with Europe House employees. Fairy tale language online game

Online game themed around fairy tales, culture and literature. Pre-registered participants will "travel" from one cultural institute's website to another to perform language- and culture-related tasks, solve riddles, do mini-translations from a number of languages and interact with native speakers. The aim is to collect as many points as possible through a special scoring system, but above all to have a multilingual fun experience and give translation a go.

Peter Pan travelling book exhibition

The Peter Pan travelling book exhibition is a cross-border project coordinated by the DG Translation field office in Vienna. This year, the book collection will be in Slovakia in November for what is traditionally the biggest book fair, held in Incheba, Bratislava. The exhibition will include workshops for visitors (quizzes for adults, colouring workshops for kids). Readings from the book in several languages will also be organised in several libraries during November, in partnership with EUNIC institutes.

- A country-wide competition for schools ‘EDL in our school‘ will be launched on 14 September 2020. Primary and secondary schools around Slovakia wishing to participate, can organize their local EDL event and share what they did (videos, pictures) by the end of October 2020. Winners will be announced on 16 November. Three winning schools per category (primary schools, secondary schools) will receive vouchers for foreign-language books.

EDL Open Air Workday

In the first part, the Ministry of Education will present ongoing programmes to promote languages. Next will be the award ceremony as the main EDL event in Slovenia. It will include presentations of the 10 best multilingual school projects, with national prizes awarded by the National Education Institute. This will be followed by a working break where participants visit different stands (15-20). The second part will be dedicated to the theme “Translation all around us” and will start with a panel discussion with Juvenes Translator participants (the winner for Slovenia and those having received a “Special Mention” for outstanding translations, and their tutors) on that contest and on participants’ preparation and overall experience. The second part will conclude with a language-translating music workshop.
