National rule of Law dialogues
The national rule of law dialogues are a format developed by the European Commission and the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) which aims to increase the involvement of stakeholders, especially civil society, in the follow-up to the Commission’s Rule of Law Report at national level. They are usually hosted by the Commission Representations in the Member States and co-organised by the Commission and the FRA.
These dialogues can take different formats in terms of thematic focus and the type and level of stakeholders and authorities participating, depending on what is most relevant in the specific national context. They provide valuable opportunities for the Commission to listen to civil society's views, to bring different stakeholders and authorities together, and to see how they can best work together to follow-up to the Rule of Law Report, especially the recommendations addressed to the Member State.
