Aims
The Connecting Europe Facility supports the development of high-performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the field of energy, telecommunications and transport; building missing cross-border links and removing bottlenecks along main trans-European transport corridors. The Connecting Europe Facility allows the construction of projects that would not be taken up by the market otherwise.

Competitiveness of Enterprises and SMEs (COSME)

Aims
The COSME programme supported the competitiveness, growth and sustainability of EU enterprises, in particular SMEs, and promoted entrepreneurship. To reach these goals, the programme eased SME’s access to finance by providing loan guarantees and risk-capital. It facilitated access to new markets inside and outside the EU and reduced the administrative burden on SMEs.

Customs, Taxation and Fight against Fraud - Customs 2020

Aims
CUSTOMS AND TAXATION
The Customs 2020 programme supported the functioning and modernisation of the Customs Union. The Fiscalis 2020 programme supported the functioning of the taxation systems in the Union and in particular the fight against tax fraud, tax evasion and aggressive tax planning.
Both programmes funded a highly secured communication network allowing exchange of information between national customs and tax administrations and promoted knowledge-sharing and networking between officials of the EU countries’ customs and tax authorities.
FIGHT AGAINST FRAUD
The Pericles 2020 programme combated euro-counterfeiting in Europe and worldwide by funding exchanges, assistances and training for authorities, banks and others involved in the protection of euro coins and banknotes. The Hercule III programme was dedicated to fighting fraud, corruption and any other illegal activities affecting the financial interests of the EU, including the fight against cigarette smuggling and counterfeiting. The programme helped national law enforcement authorities in their fight against illegal cross-border activities by financing technical and operational support and professional training activities.
The Anti-Fraud Information System AFIS was an umbrella term for a set of anti-fraud applications operated by OLAF under a common technical infrastructure aiming at the timely and secure exchange of fraud-related information between the competent national and EU administrations, as well as storage and analysis of relevant data. The AFIS Project encompassed two major areas, Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters and Irregularities Management.

Galileo & EGNOS

Aims
Galileo is Europe’s initiative for a state-of-the-art global satellite navigation system, providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. The fully deployed system consists of 30 satellites and the associated ground infrastructure.
Galileo is inter-operable with GPS and GLONASS, the two other global satellite navigation systems. EGNOS, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service, is a fully operational regional satellite navigation system monitoring and correcting open signals emitted by the US GPS and Galileo in the future.
