European Commission visual identity

This page is to help partner organisations and contractors of the European Commission understand how to use the European Commission's logo and visual identity.

The purpose of the European Commission’s visual identity is to give the institution a recognisable image and a unified voice in its communications. The fundamental principles outlined in the following pages should therefore be adhered to in all communication materials and whenever European Commission staff, external partners or stakeholders communicate about its activities, initiatives, and programmes.

EC logo horizontal in English

The logo of the European Commission is composed of three main elements:

  • the EU emblem with the stars modified. Therefore it cannot be used on its own in place of the original EU emblem,
  • a symbol representing the Berlaymont building, headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels,
  • the wordmark to indicate the name of the institution. Three variations of the logo exist but the main version to use is the horizontal version.

Three variations of the logo exist but the main version to use is the horizontal version.
