PINQUA (Mission 5 Component 2 – Investment 2.3)

Italy's Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the development of new public residential buildings to address housing challenges,  especially focusing on existing public assets and revitalizing degraded areas. The emphasis is on green innovation and sustainability. The investment consists of two main strategies, both executed without using new land:

Upgrading and expanding social housing, enhancing urban quality, improving accessibility and safety, addressing housing shortages, and boosting environmental quality. This involves employing innovative models and tools for urban management, inclusion, and well-being.

Targeted initiatives on public residential buildings with significant strategic impact nationally. The selection of funding proposals will be based on indicators that assess the environmental, social, cultural, urban-territorial, economic-financial, and technological-processual impacts of the projects. Part of this investment are the projects planned in the two neighborhoods Gramsci and Donatello that include the  urban renewal of streets and squares concerning the schools, bicycle connections, pedestrian walkways, 30 speed zones and traffic management interventions to encourage active mobility and enhance the public spaces in front of the schools.

The creation of these new public spaces using “tactical urbanism” and the widening of the sidewalks with the consequent reduction in the width of the vehicular lanes are planned above all to moderate traffic on the streets, where the children and their families most frequently are, making them safer for everyone.

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan provides funding of EUR 424.259,00.

The construction site has started on the 6th November 2023 and it is scheduled to be completed by April 2024.
