The objective of the investment (EUR 229 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility) is to provide remote health surveillance services for elderly people above the age of 65. The investment is also expected to help the de-institutionalisation of long-term care.

For this purpose, different actions are being taken:  First, the entry into operation of dispatching services, which shall organise telemedicine services and emergency care for the participants among elderly people above 65. This system will allow participants to place a GSM-based personal emergency call to a 24-hour service. The dispatching service staff shall be experienced in emergency care services. Second, at least 1.5 million elderly people above 65 shall be equipped with wearable sensory devices. A dedicated service will provide 24-hour surveillance and will be reachable in case of medical emergency.

The implementation of the investment shall be completed by 31 December 2025.
