NG2BIOGEN

Although more than 99% of the energy required for the production process is already based on renewable energy sources, AustroCel Hallein is planning to replace the majority of the remaining fossil fuels at its plant.

Specifically, by replacing natural gas with by-products from the in-house 2nd generation bioethanol production (lignocellulosic ethanol), the greenhouse gas emissions generated at the site are to be reduced by a further 75%. It is expected that the annual green house gas emissions are be reduced by 1,640 tons after completion of the project. The project is currently in the construction phase.
