Entry into force of the law on whistle-blowers’ protection

The reform was implemented by adopting the law no. 361/2022 on the protection of the whistle-blowers` in the public interest.

The law was published in the Official Journal no. 1218/19.12.2022.

In addition, the Law no 67/2023 for the modification of art. 6 para (2) of the Law no. 361/2022 on the protection of the whistle-blowers` in public interest, was published in the Official Journal no. 257/28.03.2023.

The law no. 361/2022 on the protection of the whistle-blowers` in the public interest, subsequently amended, fully transposes the Directive (EU) 2019/1937 (the Directive) on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law.

Also, according to the new law, the National Integrity Agency (ANI) was designated as competent authority to handle whistle-blowers’ reports.
