The objective of the investment is to provide adequate housing to address the expected increase in institutional care demand due to an ageing society.

The investment will provide at least 539 places in the form of smaller standalone residential units for users in need of long-term care.

The purpose of the investment is to provide appropriate spatial conditions for the provision of Community services and programmes. In doing so, the Ministry of Solidarity-Based Future aims to contribute to the independent living of individuals, to prevent social exclusion of users, to ensure effective management of the risks associated with infectious diseases, and to ensure the quality and safety of people who are highly dependent on the assistance of others.

On 23 December 2022, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities launched a call for projects. In the context of the public tender and its repetition, the Ministry of Solidarity-Based Future selected 16 projects.

EUR 59 million of the Recovery and Resilience Facility is earmarked for this purpose.

The investments are expected to be completed by 30 June 2026.
