The Czech Oncology Institute in Prague will provide cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment in one single location, with the aim of becoming a medical centre with international outreach in the Central and Eastern Europe region. It will be built as part of the Motol University Hospital, which is the largest hospital complex in Czech Republic and the second largest in Europe.
Cancer is a major health issue in Czechia and the establishment of the Czech Oncology Institute shall help improve the fragmented cancer care in Prague as well as lead to more efficient care, better staff and equipment management, overall resulting in higher quality of care for patients. It is expected that the centre will treat 8,500 to 11,200 hospitalized patients per year.
Besides the Czech Oncology Institute in Prague, this measure also strengthens local oncology centers with technologies and equipment as well as the Masaryk Oncology Institute in Brno.
