Commissioner Simson visits Norway to strengthen energy partnership

Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson will be in Norway tomorrow to enhance the EU's energy cooperation with this key partner. The Commissioner will co-chair the EU-Norway Energy Dialogue, as well as the Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Forum with the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Aasland.

Discussions at the Energy Dialogue, which was launched in 2002, will focus on a wide range of crucial topics including energy security and critical energy infrastructure, hydrogen and offshore wind, as well as the REPowerEU plan and the EU's 'Fit for 55' package. At the end of the Energy Dialogue, Commissioner Simson will hold a press point with Minister Aasland, which can be followed on Europe by Satellite.

The Commissioner will open the CCUS Forum with a keynote speech setting out a strategic vision on carbon, capture and storage (CCS) and carbon, capture and utilisation (CCU) towards 2050, which will be live-streamed. In the afternoon, she will visit a series of energy sites with Minister Aasland, including the Vinje power plant and Norcem's carbon capture and storage project in Brevik. She will also hold bilateral meetings with energy companies Statkraft and Equinor.
