The European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have been providing support to Croatia through the Structural Reform Support Programme to strengthen the functioning of state-owned enterprises. As a result of this project and its recommendations presented yesterday during an event, an early warning system was developed to allow Croatian authorities to identify when a state-owned enterprise is having financial difficulties and as a response, to prepare and implement plans to improve their financial and operational performance. This reform will make state-owned enterprises more resilient and allow the State to act as an informed and active owner. The Structural Reform Support Programme offers expertise to all EU countries for the implementation of growth-enhancing reforms. The support is based on request and is tailor-made for the beneficiary Member State. Since 2017, the programme has provided support for more than 550 projects in 26 Member States.
