We are

The Human Resources and Security department oversees recruitment policy, training and career management, social policies and working conditions for Commission staff. It is responsible for keeping buildings and employees safe, and online security.

The current vacancy is with the ‘Medical Absences’ Unit (HR.D.6) of the Directorate for Workplace & Wellbeing. Unit HR.D.6 is dealing with medical absences of the Commission staff based in Brussels, Ispra and Luxembourg. The Unit is organising medical controls at home, in its offices (Brussels, Ispra and Luxembourg) and at the place of illness/accident. For this, the Unit relies on several external doctors in order to cover all geographical zones. The majority of the Unit colleagues are assigned in Brussels, and a few are assigned in the Commission sites of Luxembourg and Ispra.

We propose

The new colleague will provide administrative and logistical support to contribute to the smooth running of the Unit in Brussels, together with the other colleagues in the secretariat. S/he will perform various administrative tasks, which are key for the delivery by the team.

The job consists of a range of duties mainly related to medical document and organizing medical visits for staff based in Brussels, dealing with special leave requests on medical ground.

The new colleague will liaise with other colleagues in the DG, in the Commission and agencies.

We look for

We are looking for an experienced colleague with an interest and motivation to work on medical and social files. A previous experience in a medical or social service will be an asset. The person should possess a strong sense of duty and discretion and be able to switch from simple tasks like encoding medical certificates to maintain updated the budget for medical fees. Knowledge about the different types of special leaves and invalidity procedures used in the European Commission will be appreciated.

The function requires proven secretarial and organizational skills, with attention to details. The candidate will be able to prioritise and be reliable. S/he should enjoy working with others and have a good team spirit. The job requires good communication and the ability of handling working relations with tact.

A high level of discretion and a good sense of contact are required.

The candidate should be, ideally, familiar with ARES, SYSPER2, EUROLOOK, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, MIPS, SERMED.

Good oral and written command of French and English is required.
