This webinar is the first in a series of 5 events that will take place between March and July 2021. The event are all organised by Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE), Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) and the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy.

The webinar will feature high-level presentations on the EU and Canada’s overarching plans and investment strategies to boost energy efficient renovations in buildings, as part of their sustainable economic recovery strategies.

The first session will look at the Government of Canada’s plan to boost energy efficient renovations in buildings towards its net-zero by 2050 and how it supports sustainable economic recovery.  It will also present how the Canadian Investment will channel investments into energy efficient retrofits, as part of its infrastructure plan to grow the economy and create jobs. Session 2 will focus on the EU’s economic recovery plan and highlight the main features of Next Generation EU and the Recovery plan for Europe. It will investigate how instruments like the Recovery and Resilience Facility and other programmes like InvestEU and the Just Transition Mechanism can channel investments for building renovations.
