National strategy for Roma integration
For Finland, local authorities play an important role in Roma integration. Finland’s national Roma integration strategy promotes equality and inclusion of the Roma in all spheres of life, and pushes for a permanent and sustainable improvement of their social status. A cross-sector action plan is aimed at reducing social exclusion and poverty, focusing in particular on education, employment, healthcare and housing.
Assessment of Finland’s strategy implementation
In Spring 2014, the Commission assessed the implementation of the National Roma Integration Strategies in the four key areas of education, employment, healthcare and housing, as well as progress in the fight against discrimination and the use of funding.
