Details Part of collection2015 Commission report and factsheets on monitoring the application of EU lawPublication date15 July 2016 Description Every year, the European Commission draws up an annual report on its monitoring of the application of EU law in response to requests from the European Parliament and the EU countries. In 2015, the Commission launched 742 new procedures - by sending a letter of formal notice - and issued 248 reasoned opinions. Atthe end of 2015, there were 1,368 open infringement cases. The number of new late-transposition infringement cases went down in2015 (543) compared to 2014 (585).
