Waste Management Plan of the Czech Republic

The reform aims to enhance waste prevention, recycling, recovery, and sorting while reducing landfilling.

Its goal is to strengthen the principles of producer responsibility and eco-modulation.

By 2035, at least 65% of municipal waste is to be recycled, and no more than 10% should be landfilled.

The new waste management legislation in the Czech Republic has been in force since 1 January 2021.

Following the newly adopted waste legislation, the following implementing acts on waste management shall be finalised and enter into force by 30 September 2023, in accordance with the elements specified in Article 28 of Directive 2008/98/EC as amended by Directive (EU) 2018/851.
