The Artists’ Register in the Czech Republic began operating in July 2025, with registration confirming the so-called artist status. The introduction of this tool is part of reforms supported by the National Recovery Plan, aiming to provide people working in culture with a stronger foundation for recognition and financial support.

The most frequent applicants come from the fields of visual arts (26%), audiovisual arts (21%), and theatre (20%). Anyone who can prove that they have been engaged in artistic or art-related activities for at least 24 months in the past three years can register.

Registration confirms the so-called artist status, which will serve as a basis for new forms of support – for example, scholarship programs by the Ministry of Culture. The register thus paves the way for systematic support for people in culture and contributes to their professional stability.

Thanks to the National Recovery Plan, it was possible to introduce a change that gives Czech art and its creators greater space and recognition.
