Copyright: University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics Project aims to explore and develop photonic crystals—periodic sub-wavelength structures that control the flow of light and other electromagnetic waves—using soft materials, specifically liquid crystals. The goal is to leverage the high tunability and susceptibility of liquid crystals to engineer and fabricate on-demand reconfigurable internal structures of photonic crystals, thereby enabling switchable functionality in such devices. A key potential application of this design is the highly efficient transport of THz waves for intrachip and interchip communication, which will be particularly relevant with the emergence of 6G wireless networks operating at THz frequencies. The Recovery and Resilience Facility contributes EUR 267,000, the total value of the investment. The project started in July 2023 and should be finalised by June 2026.Additional Links:https://www.fmf.uni-lj.si/en/research/recovery-and-resilience-facility/sorephoc/ Top 100 recipientsUniversity of Ljubljana (UL) projects:Digital University of Ljubljana: purchase of ICT equipmentRRP Open Science - Get to knowDigitisation of livestock databasesModernisation of the PŠP RRPBasic skills RINApplication of augmented reality in educationNatural resources and food ULDigital and Green higher education study programmes of ULInnovative learning environments ULSustainable Space ULEnvironmental and digital literacy ULEnvironmental Technologies ULDigital Future ULLifelong Learning and Microcertificates ULEcosystem development ULSustainable ULSustainable and Digital ULFaculty of Medicine UL Vrazov Square CampusNew building of UL, Veterinary FacultyConsortium of Project Offices-KRPAN ReferenceC3.K8.ICProject locations Slovenia EU contribution€267 000 Project websitehttps://www.fmf.uni-lj.si/en...
