Copyright: BKA / Andy Wenzel In its government programme for 2020-2024, the Austrian federal government set itself the goal of preserving and further developing cultural heritage, digitising collections, making them more accessible and making better use of digital technologies in the field of cultural heritage institutions (CHI). The Digital Cultural Heritage Strategy was developed from early 2022 onwards in a joint process with representatives of CHI, academia and local authorities, accompanied by an expert advisory board. The strategy was published in March 2023. The aim of the Digital Cultural Heritage Strategy is to determine the current position of digital technologies in the field of cultural heritage, to discuss potentials and build awareness, as well as to identify concrete perspectives and develop fields of action, such as: Education and training for digital competencies in cultural heritage institutions (CHI) Development of individual digitisation strategies of CHI Promotion of digital outreach activities Strengthening research with a digital focus on CHI Exploration of digital value chains Re-launch of the central online platform Kulturpool Establishment of a national competence centre More information can be found at the following links: Neuigkeiten BMKÖS Website.
