School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in structural interventions is part of this investment.

The building of the Carlo Ubertini Institute of Higher Education in Piazza Mazzini 4 in Caluso (TO) is located south-west of the town, is divided between Via S.

Francesco d'Assisi to the north, Via Trento to the west and Via Montello to the south.

The complex, dating back to the early 70’s, is home to a professional institute for services for agriculture and rural development, services for food and wine and hospitality and is divided into two main buildings (classroom block or Structural Unit 1, gym block or Structural Unit 2) and in two lateral connecting blocks (Structural Unit 3A and 3B).

The project develops around the following objectives: seismic adjustment, through the realization of septa in AC; static safety with reconstruction of the facade and waterproofing of the roof; approx 700 square meters of replacement windows and 1400 square meters of waterproofing; removal of architectural barriers; renovation and compliance of the systems; adaptation to the legislation on energy efficiency; 2500 square meters of coat; remediation of structures, panels or asbestos elements; 800 square meters of asbestos roofing remediation; interventions to eliminate risks from falling elements from above; adaptation to fire regulations aimed at obtaining the SCIA.
