Construction of New Schools through Building Replacement (Mission 2 - Component 3 - Investment 1.1)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the progressive replacement of part of the building stock of public schools with the aim of creating modern and sustainable structures. The objectives of the interventions are the reduction of energy consumption, an increased seismic safety of buildings, and the development of green areas. The plan is expected to target 166 school buildings, with a total of 400 thousand m². The project envisages extraordinary maintenance and earthquake-proof improvement works in the building housing the De Medici Institute of Education is part of this investment. The interventions consist mainly in the partial demolition and reconstruction of the currently disused building and they also envisage the creation of new teaching spaces in extension to be used as a kitchen workshop, reception room, storerooms and accessory rooms for a total cost of EUR 2.6million.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion.
