The EU and the United States reaffirm strong transatlantic partnership that delivers for the people

On 20 October, EU leaders, including Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, and High Representative Josep Borrell, met with US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington D.C.

They discussed ongoing work in different areas which is part of the close partnership between the EU and the US. They agreed on a plan to further strengthen the relationship for years to come.

The EU-US partnership brings benefits to nearly 800 million citizens on both sides of the Atlantic. The EU and the US are committed to building prosperity and increasingly work together on security and defence. They also share a strong commitment to a rules-based international order. Together, they are a positive force promoting stability and peace worldwide, and addressing global challenges including security, the protection of democracy, respect for human rights, and climate change.
