Directorate-General for Informatics changes its name to Digital Services

The new name entered into effect as of 1 November to better reflect the role of the Directorate-General in driving the digital transformation of the Commission.

From 1 November, DIGIT’s official name is the Directorate-General for Digital Services (DIGIT). The new name emphasises DIGIT’s important role in digitally transforming the Commission and supporting its internal administration through the provision of digital solutions, equipment, support, and strategic advice.

This change follows DIGIT’s internal reorganisation aiming to ensure a robust, secure digital landscape that supports digital-ready policy making across the Commission, fosters stronger collaboration between Commission departments, and helps the EU public administrations.

Veronica Gaffey, Director-General for DIGIT, said: "We are proud to lead the Commission in its digital transformation so that it can better face current and future challenges. Our organisation aims to be a benchmark for efficient, agile administrations that are driven by data, that are secure and are focused on users."
