Biography
Brunner is the Federal Minister of Finance of Austria since December 2021. Before that, he has held the position of State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology from 2020 until 2021, as the Vice-President of the Federal Council from 2018 until 2020, and as a member of the Federal Council of Austria from 2009 until 2020. He started his political career being a member of the municipal council of the municipality of Höchst during the years 2000-2004.
In addition, Brunner has acted as the Political Director of the Austrian Economic Federation, Head of Corporate Development, Communication at Strategic Development at the Austrian energy company Illwerke VKw Group, and been in the Executive Board of the Austrian energy company OeMAG.
Brunner has graduated from King’s College London (LLM), University of Innsbruck and University of Vienna (Dr. of Law).
