Normas de la UE para la protección de datos

Gracias a unas normas de protección de datos más estrictas, la ciudadanía puede ejercer un mayor control sobre sus propios datos personales y las empresas disfrutan de unas condiciones de competencia equitativas.

Contexto

Con la entrada en vigor del Reglamento General de Protección de Datos, desde mayo de 2018 existe un conjunto único de normas aplicable a todas las empresas que operan en la UE, con independencia de dónde tengan su sede.

Gracias a estas normas de protección de datos más estrictas:

  • la ciudadanía puede ejercer un mayor control sobre sus propios datos personales
  • las empresas disfrutan de unas condiciones de competencia equitativas.

En junio de 2020, la Comisión Europea publicó  un informe de evaluación sobre el Reglamento general de protección de datos (RGPD).

RGPD: historia de un éxito

Dos años después de la entrada en vigor del RGPD, el Reglamento puede considerarse todo un éxito.

Background

As of May 2018, with the entry into application of the General Data Protection Regulation, there is one set of data protection rules for all companies operating in the EU, wherever they are based.

Stronger rules on data protection mean

  • people have more control over their personal data
  • businesses benefit from a level playing field

In June 2020, the European Commission published an evaluation report on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
