Outlook
In 2022, the Commission will continue important enforcement work in the area of the common agricultural policy (CAP).
In particular, with regard to the key Directive on unfair trading practices in business-to-business relationships in the agricultural and food supply chain (Directive 2019/633/EU), the Commission will:
- finalise the transposition checks (the transposition period expired on 1 May 2021);
- follow up on the twelve infringement proceedings opened against twelve Member States for non-communication of national measures: work will continue on these cases towards closure or towards reasoned opinions, depending on each situation;
- continue the conformity checks for all Member States who have notified complete transposition measures;
- take up any identified conformity issue with the respective Member States, availing itself of the EU Pilot procedure where appropriate and necessary;
- discuss with national enforcement authorities how the national laws transposing the Directive are applied and discuss the first implementation experiences.
