We are

As the operational hub between the Directorates-General of the Commission and the translation departments in the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT), the Demand Management Unit is tasked with:

  • the acceptance of translation requests – and of requests for any other linguistic products on offer – from the customer DGs and Services,
  • the negotiation of deadlines and other conditions,
  • the linguistic pre-processing of all documents to be translated, and
  • the transmission of the requests to the translation units in DGT.

We propose a position of Administrative Assistant - Management of translation requests for a motivated contract agent who will deal with incoming translation requests and will work both independently and as part of a team.

This is a perfect position for a person who likes to perform and be responsible for a variety of tasks in the fields of translation, document processing and document management, in a lively environment.

We look for a committed and flexible team player, able to handle several files in parallel.

The profile of our ideal candidate includes:

  • minimum 2 years of experience in translation related areas,

or

  • a sound understanding of the areas and the willingness and ability to develop related skills;
  • analytical skills; ability to prioritize;
  • good communication and negotiation skills, flexibility, versatility, and the ability to take initiative and work autonomously as well as being part of a team;
  • advanced knowledge of MS Office tools and other IT tools related to translation;
  • good spoken and written knowledge of English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
