Davor Orlič is the COO of the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI) under the auspices of UNESCO. He works at the intersection of research, technologies, policies and business innovation in AI. He has pivoted his focus from European language initiatives toward African languages, commissioning pivotal research to enhance their digital presence. Notably, he supported a study investigating the motivations, focus, and challenges faced by stakeholders at the core of the NLP ecosystem in the African context, with recommendations for use by policy makers, AI researchers, and other relevant stakeholders. Davor's work underscores the importance of Cracking the Language Barrier for a Multilingual Europe, as much as in Africa, as he is committed to leveraging AI for global linguistic inclusivity and development.
