Description
The European Commission needs to have a direct access to data about a wide universe of investment funds with the broadest possible geographical coverage, and in particular comprising the EU and the EEA, in order to monitor efficiently and effectively this financial sector and to support daily work, as well as preparatory work for potential new initiatives.
The European Commission services need up-to-date information about current and historic situation in the fund sector and specific parts thereof (geographically and/or product-wise), data and relevant information on the fund industry in general (comprising the asset managers, service providers (such as depositaries) and other data pertaining to the provision of asset management services, ranging from UCITS funds to complex retail products, sophisticated institutional products and other investment products used as wrappers for investment fund products.
