Alice Delorme Benites is Professor of Human-Machine Communication and Head of the Institute for Multilingual Communication at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences.Her research focuses on the use of machine translation by the general public, with a particular emphasis on the potential and risks of machine interpreting tools for crisis communication, particularly in the context of displaced populations.She has recently initiated a large-scale project aimed at assisting Swiss public institutions (such as hospitals, courts, schools, and asylum centres) in leveraging language technologies to overcome language barriers when communicating with non-native speakers.
