Know your rights
The family shall enjoy legal, economic and social protection. For example, in order to reconcile family and professional life, everyone shall have the right to protection from dismissal for a reason connected with maternity. Everyone should also have the right to paid maternity leave and to parental leave following the birth or adoption of a child.
This right is enshrined in article 33 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
What to do if your rights have been breached
The authorities of EU countries are bound to comply with the Charter of fundamental rights only when implementing EU law. Fundamental rights are protected by your country's constitution.
Addressing your complaint to the relevant national authority, government, national courts or a specialised human rights body.
