Methods for identifying gender pay inequality

Tools such as pay calculators, audit systems and income reports are helping close the gender pay gap in 3 European countries.

Logib, Switzerland

Logib is a statistical tool developed by the federal office for gender equality using a self-assessment pay calculator. The pay calculator aims to check whether or not a company is implementing equal pay for equal work between women and men.

The tool is an easy-to-use software package that is suitable for companies with 50 or more employees.

Logib-D, Germany

Adapted from the Swiss model, Logib-D is a pay calculator and audit system developed by the federal ministry of family affairs, senior citizens, women and youth.

It consists of a pay calculator to identify the gender pay gap in a company's pay structure, as well as consultancy services to assist in analysing and eliminating the gender pay gap.

Logib-D identifies the factors that determine the wage gap between men and women, where women and men share the same employment characteristics.

Company income reports, Austria

Income reports aim to help identify and close the gender pay gap in a company. The reports are based conditions set out in the collective agreements for each company, and are required to be published as well as submitted to the works council.

A wage calculator helps employers draw up income reports. It enables them to calculate the appropriate pay level by qualification, occupation and other factors.

Employees can also use the calculator to see what the correct pay levels should be for their current job or when attending a job interview.
