Description

The European Commission adopted its Communication to the European Parliament, the European Council and the Council on managing migration in all its aspects: Progress under the European Agenda on Migration.

Migration remains a major challenge and requires a comprehensive response. The EU has shown real determination across a range of workstreams since the peak of the migration crisis in 2015. But it has not yet put in place a future-proof system for the coming years. The Communication adopted by the Commission today sets out where we stand and what concrete actions are needed to ensure a credible, fair and sustainable European response. It underlines that between now and the European Parliament elections, we have a window of opportunity to address remaining weaknesses and to build a robust system based on solidarity and responsibility.
