Promote integration of the refugee population into the labour market

Promote integration of the refugee population into the labour market

This investment aims to provide vocational training to 4,000 refugees in Greece.

The full measure notably involves a comprehensive set of actions to facilitate the integration of refugees into the labour market through (a) a mapping of the educational background and professional skills of the beneficiaries of international protection, (b) linguistic and intercultural training, (c) job counselling, (d) vocational training, (e) apprenticeship and traineeships in firms to help trainees acquire work experience and (f) certification of professional skills acquired aimed at further assisting beneficiaries in accessing job opportunities.

During an event organised by the European Commission in Athens on 9 May 2023 to celebrate Europe’s Day and launch the 2023 Year on Skills, the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, gave diplomas to 15 refugees, who recently completed their education on firefighting.
