Modernization and endowment of the Day Center for adults with disabilities, Pitesti

The general objective of the project is to modernize, make accessible and equip the building where the Day Centre for Adults with Disabilities Pitești, within the Complex of Services for Persons with Disabilities Pitești, in order to achieve optimal conditions for the provision of social services corresponding to the assessed needs of adults with disabilities, for the development and / or strengthening of independent living skills.

Specific objectives:

• Increase the quality of the social infrastructure, by modernizing and making accessible the building of the Day Center for Adults with Disabilities Pitești, within the Complex of Services for Persons with Disabilities Pitești, in order to improve the characteristics of the building and provide social services at quality standards in the field;
• Equipping the Day Center, in order to achieve optimal conditions for the medical-psycho-social recovery process for 62 adults with disabilities (42 people from sheltered housing under the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Argeș and 20 adults with disabilities in the community.

The beneficiaries of social services provided in the Day Center for Adults with Disabilities Pitești, are adults with disabilities, who hold a certificate of disability, have their domicile/residence in the county of Argeș and are in one of the following situations: they are residents in sheltered housing under the DGASPC Argeș, are in the care of families/professional personal assistants or live independently.

The project facilitates accessibility to the physical, social, economic and cultural environment, to health, information and communication, in order to enable people with disabilities to fully enjoy all fundamental human rights and freedoms, to be appreciated and valued, to live in dignity, and to have their basic needs met and their differences respected.

In the long term, the project will contribute to the improvement of social services for adults with disabilities with the help of new and modern equipment according to quality standards, to the prevention of institutionalization, as well as to the enhancement of the role of the disabled person in the community.

The project will have a positive impact on the quality of life of people with disabilities and will produce a necessary and positive change on the direct beneficiaries, by maintaining their psycho-affective balance and improving their quality of life by opening them to the community.
