Copyright: Aigües de Mataró web TubVerd is an urban network for municipal distribution of cold heat managed by Aigües de Mataró. The initiative receives €262,601 from the Next GenerationEU funds to expand and reinforce this network, following the district heating and cooling (DHC) model, a system of neighborhood heating from an urban network. TubVerd harnesses energy from the wastewater treatment plant and the integrated waste recovery center of Maresme, converted into biogas and steam. These heat sources are distributed through buried pipelines and provide hot water and air conditioning to multiple facilities, including Mataró Hospital, the Voramar Geriatric Center, the Tecnocampus, thirteen educational centers, and five sports facilities. The project, funded by European funds, will increase network production with a new steam extraction and the construction of a branch that will serve the newly developed Iveco-Renfe-Farinera and Torre Barceló sector of the city, where 235 affordable housing units and various public facilities will be built.
