Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in fire control measures is part of this investment.

The building houses both the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore "Ada Gobetti Marchesini Casale Arduino" and the International European State School "Altiero Spinelli".

This location is frequently used in silent film shooting, in particular thanks to the use of the building of the Institute of Higher Education "Ada Gobetti Marchesini Casale Arduino", located at number 25 Via Figlie dei Militari.

Today it is home to three different high schools: the IPSIA Gobetti Marchesini, ITC Vera and Libera Arduino and the European High School.

The structure, designed by the architect Giovanni Angelo Reycend, was born in the late nineteenth century to ensure a primary education to young women daughters of soldiers and soldiers who had fought for Independence.

The building was then heavily bombed in the summer of 1943 and subsequently renovated to bring it back to its original condition, in the years following the end of the world war.

The building is bound by Art. 10 D.Lgs. 42/2004 (ex Bond 1089/39).

The planned interventions are preparatory to the adaptation of the fire detection system.

In particular, in order to ensure the safety and usability of the school complex and in agreement with the administration, it will be carried out: the reconstruction of part of the fire detection system covering the basement, with certification in the current plant installed in the room reserved for auxiliary staff; the implementation of a new emergency sound system to cover the entire building complex.
