With this project, natural gas can be replaced to a significant extent by biomass in 2025. The use of biomass will increase by 60,000 tons per year from currently 100,000 tons per year to 160,000 tons per year. This will enable the Sappi Gratkorn plant to gradually move away from gas in boiler firing and become significantly more environmentally friendly in this respect. It is expected that the savings in greenhouse gas emissions amount to 28,611 tons per year after completion of the project. The project is currently in the construction phase.
