Democracy and our values - Implementation tracker

The tracker shows how the EU is turning its democracy priority into action. It includes legislative measures, which become binding EU law once adopted, and non-legislative initiatives, such as strategies and action plans that guide policy and set future directions. It is based on Commission work programmes for 2025 and 2026.

Legislative items

Legislative items create new laws or update existing ones, like regulations, directives or decisions that are legally binding for EU countries. These proposals go through a formal decision-making process, generally involving the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the EU, before they can take effect.
