Biography

Dr. Ricarda Steinbrecher is a biologist and molecular geneticist, working on GMOs, their risks and impacts on agriculture, environment and health since 1995. She is now working on synthetic biology, gene drives and the new genome editing techniques. She is involved in UN-led processes, especially the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and international expert groups on the risk assessment of GMOs and synthetic biology. She is based in Oxford, UK and is a board member of the European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility (ENSSER).
