Upgrade your EU Login app for safer authentication

To maintain optimum security, the EU Login app will soon change how you receive authentication requests. Please upgrade your app as soon as possible.

‘Push’ notifications that pop up on mobile devices have become a recognised way for malicious hackers to access accounts.

If you use a PIN code or biometrics to authenticate with the EU Login app, you will soon receive authentication requests inside the app instead of via push notifications.

The change will go live later this autumn.

iOS users must upgrade to the latest version of the app as soon as possible. This is version 1.10.2 or higher. Once the change goes live, iOS users with older versions of the app will not be able to confirm authentication requests by PIN code or biometrics.

Android users will still be able to receive authentication requests with old versions of the app. However, to maintain optimum security, they are encouraged to upgrade when the new version is released.

For a quick guide to the new way to confirm authentication requests, please see the infographic below.
