Congratulations to the winners!

Congratulations to the 27 winners of the Juvenes Translatores competition – who managed to navigate between languages with true mastery, wisdom and courage!

And to 287 participants who received  special mentions! We are looking forward to meet winners and their teachers at the Awards ceremony on 31 March, in Brussels.

Of the 552 language combinations available, the students from 681 schools used 141 combinations, including Spanish into Slovenian and Polish into Danish.
If you would like to challenge yourself - the 2022 texts for translation are still available online.

We have been been organising the Juvenes Translatores (Latin for ‘young translators’) contest every year since 2007. Its aim is to promote language learning in schools and give young people a taste of what it is like to be a translator. It is open to 17-year-old secondary school students and takes place at the same time in all selected schools across the EU. The contest has inspired and encouraged some of the participants to pursue their languages at university level and to become professional translators.
